SLED Safeguard SC: Firearms Training Officer Annual Recertification

This four-hour annual in-service course is required for all SLED-certified Security Firearms Instructors. Participants receive updates from SLED, complete a written assessment covering updates and instructor knowledge, and qualify with their duty firearm.

Required Materials
Participants must bring:

Notebook and black pen(s)
Laptop and charger (or another device capable of running PowerPoint and Word)
Valid SLED Registered Security Officer ID card and SLED instructor number
Driver's license or state-issued ID
Duty firearm for qualification (must be unloaded, secured in a case, and magazines must not contain ammunition upon arrival)
Minimum of three magazines and mag pouches for two spare magazines
50 to 100 rounds of ammunition (steel-case and steel-core ammunition are prohibited; FMJ or JHP ammunition is acceptable)
Quality leather belt or duty belt
Firearm-specific OWB holster worn at belt level (drop holsters and tactical holsters are not permitted)

An $18 range fee is payable at the designated range. Students are responsible for purchasing ammunition and providing or renting ear and eye protection.

Students who do not bring the required identification or equipment may not be permitted to participate.

Registration
Registration is required and must be completed online or by calling 843-574-6152. Walk-in registrations are not permitted.
To request a refund or a one-time reschedule, contact Continuing Education at ce.reg@tridenttech.edu or 843-574-6152. Requests must be received before 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the class start date. No registrations, refunds, or transfers will be processed after that deadline. No exceptions.
