Learn the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10CM), a coding system that catalogs health conditions by categories of similar diseases, under which specific conditions are listed. In the US, ICD-10 is created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), and it consists of two medical code sets: ICD-10CM (Clinical Modification) and ICD-10PCS (Procedural Coding System). Become familiar with general ICD-10CM coding, including chapter S and outpatient coding. ICD-10CM medical coding includes services performed by physicians as medically necessary.
