The Pharmacy Technician Program trains students in technical tasks related to medication preparation and dispensing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The 9-month hybrid program, consisting of 8 total courses, combines online coursework, weekly on-campus lab sessions, and an off-campus clinical rotation. Students are required to attend a mandatory orientation on 1/7/2027 (failure to attend may result in dismissal from the program). This program prepares students for the national pharmacy technician certification exams (CPhT) and eligibility to apply for State Certification with the SC Board of Pharmacy.
Registration Requirements:·
- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- · Proof of major medical insurance/valid insurance card.
- · Proof of vaccinations, tests, and/or titers: 2-step PPD/QuantiFERON, MMR, Tetanus (Tdap), Hepatitis B (with titer), Varicella (or titer), and Flu vaccine (seasonally). Immunization FAQ’s
- · Proof of math and English proficiency (math proficiency via a passing score on a pharmacy-specific math placement test or Accuplacer)

- · Students are required to attend one of the in-person Pharmacy Technician Program Information Session before they are eligible. Sessions will be held:
· Thursday, October 8 at 10:00 AM - Building 970, Room 217
· Tuesday, November 10 at 2:00 PM - Building 970, Room 217
· Tuesday, December 8 at 10:00 AM - Building 970, Room 217
Application Process:
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Applications will be accepted on a “first qualified, first accepted” basis once all requirements have been met
1. Attend one of the required in-person Pharmacy Technician Program Information Sessions listed above. Sessions are held monthly. 2. Email all required documents (in PDF format) to crystal.watts@tridenttech.edu. This includes:
o High school diploma or GED
o Major medical health insurance ID card
o Immunization records (as listed in “Registration Requirements” above) – Contact your medical provider or county health department for records
3. After ALL documents listed in step 2 are submitted, submissions will be reviewed. Upon review, instructions for completing the math and English proficiency requirements will be provided via email.
