Learn the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10CM), a medical coding system that catalogs health conditions by categories of similar diseases, under which more specific conditions are listed. In the US, ICD-10 is created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), and it consists of two medical code sets: ICD-10CM (Clinical Modification) and ICD-10PCS (Procedural Coding System). Students will learn general ICD-10CM coding, including chapter S and out-patient coding. ICD-10CM medical coding includes services performed by physicians as medically necessary. Current year code manuals and textbooks are needed for this course and are available for purchase at the TTC Bookstore.
