As a SLED certified security firearms training officer, this four-hour yearly in service is mandatory for all security firearms instructors. You receive all yearly updates from SLED, are tested on the updates and general knowledge of the training material, and are required to qualify on your duty firearm.
You must register online. No walk-ins permitted. You may reschedule or request a refund one time by email at
ce.reg@tridenttech.edu or call 843-574-6152. All requests must be given 48 hours prior to your class start date. No refunds or transfers are granted after 12:00 p.m., Friday. No exceptions.
You are required to bring the following items to class:
- a notebook and black pen(s)
- a laptop and charger (or any device capable of running PowerPoint and Word)
- your SLED registered security officer ID card and SLED instructor number
- your driver's license/state-issued ID
- the firearm that you intend to carry/qualify on. Weapon must be unloaded, in a case, and no bullets in magazines upon arrival at the facility.
- at least (3) magazines and mag pouches to hold (2) spare magazines
- (50) to (100) rounds of ammunition; ammunition cannot be steel case or steel core; FMJ or JHP acceptable
- a good quality leather belt or "Duty Belt"
- Firearm specific OWB holster, to be worn belt level (no drop holster or tactical holster)
You must pay a $18 fee at the designated range location.
You are required to purchase ammunition, and rent or purchase ear and eye protection if not brought to class.
