Motorcycle Basic Rider (BRC)

This course is for the inexperienced rider, or for a rider needing the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Certification, and teaches the basic techniques of safely riding a motorcycle. The course meets South Carolina law for an insurance discount, so please contact your insurance company to verify your eligibility. Note: Students must complete an online eCourse (included in the course fee) and, later in the class, a riding assessment to receive the Motorcycle Safety Foundation card. The online  eCourse must be taken from enrollment time no later than Thursday noon prior to the Friday evening classroom. The eCourse is currently only supported on Windows and IOS platforms utilizing a desktop or laptop computer.  Mobile phones will not support the eCourse. After you register, on the Monday before class, a separate email will be sent to you containing the link and a personal code to enter. Once you have completed the eCourse, print a hard copy of the completion certificate and present it to the rider coaches teaching your class starting promptly Friday evening at 6 p.m.  Friday evening classroom from 6 to 10 p.m. and practical Application Riding: Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.. Class riding time may vary due to weather conditions and level of enrollment.Students must pass both a written and riding assessment to receive the Motorcycle Safety Foundation card. Classroom/orientation Friday evening 6 to 10 p.m.  Practical Application Riding: Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Class riding time may vary due to weather conditions and level of enrollment. Student riders are required to have the following items: Eye protection (sunglasses, prescription lenses OK), over ankle footwear, leather gloves, long pants and long sleeve shirt or jacket, full face helmet (half helmets not permitted; helmets may be available for use). Training bikes are provided for the Basic Rider course; however, street legal, registered and insured personal bikes are permitted for use in the course. Students with a learner’s permit who successfully complete this course are eligible for a License Waiver. Prerequisite: Basic Rider enrollees must be eligible for a driver's license and able to ride a bicycle. Books included.
