This 650-hour certificate program encompasses the requirements necessary to obtain licensure as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the state of South Carolina. Upon successful completion of this program, candidates are eligible to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx), a national certification examination, administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Board and apply for state licensure once receiving a passing score.
Students learn a range of massage techniques, including basic spa and neuromuscular clinical massage. The curriculum encompasses 650 hours of instruction in the following subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Massage Theory and Practice, Business, Ethics, Laws, and Student Clinic.
Prerequisites: For program admission are proof of high school diploma or GED, and 18 years of age or older. A background check is not required for entry into our Massage Therapy program. However, all applicants applying for a massage therapy license with the SC Board of Massage Therapy will be subject to a state and national fingerprint criminal background check.
